NanoTox 2024

The 11th International Conference on NanoToxicology - NanoTox 2024 - will take place in the historic centre of Venice at Centro Culturale Don Orione Artigianelli on 23-25 September 2024.

NanoTox is a forum aimed at personnel from research and academic institutions as well as from industry, governmental agencies, and other relevant organisations interested in:

  • (Eco)Toxicity of advanced (nano)materials

  • Hazard and exposure assessment, risk management and governance of advanced (nano)materials

  • Grouping and read-across

  • New approach methodologies (NAMs) for risk assessment

  • Sustainability assessment, Safe(r)-by-Design (SbD) and Safe-and-Sustainable-by-Design (SSbD) of advanced (nano)materials

  • Toxicity Pathways: nano cell circuits underlying Adverse Outcome Pathways (AOP) and Mode-of-Action (MoA)

  • Big data management and modelling solutions

The NanoTox 2024 Conference is jointly organised by the leading EU-funded H2020 Projects DIAGONAL, HARMLESS, and SUNSHINE, focusing on the challenges related to safe and sustainable multicomponent nanomaterials by developing novel tools for evaluating human and environmental hazards, strategies for nanomaterial characterisation, classification, grouping and read-across for risk analysis and sustainability assessment.

We plan to welcome up to 300 delegates to the conference, bringing together international experts from Europe, the United States and Asia.

We hope you can join us in amazing Venice!

SSbD24 Conference

The EU Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability envisions the transition towards safer and more sustainable chemicals and materials. In 2022 the European Commission published an initial Safe-and-Sustainable-by-Design (SSbD) framework to support the development of new chemicals and materials and the re-design of existing ones. To enable this transition, safety and sustainability aspects need to be combined. This calls for multidisciplinary efforts from different stakeholders such as scientists, regulators and experts from industrial value chains.

The SSbD24 Conference on Monte Verità aims to bring together experts from various relevant fields and sectors who have started to work on specific methods, tools and criteria to enable the actual use of SSbD. Experts from industry and value chains using chemicals and materials will present their first-hand experience in applying the SSbD framework in case studies, and regulators will express their views on how to operationalize the concept and related policy needs.

A special session will be organized by and for Early Stage Researchers to help networking and get familiar with opportunities on SSbD related topics in- and outside academia. Further information will be provided during the registration.

MaterialsWeek 2024

On 17-21 June 2024, MaterialsWeek will be held at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Limassol, Cyprus. It aims to bring together numerous Research and Innovation (R&I) communities that are driving advances in materials innovation manifested across diverse value chains and industrial markets.

MaterialsWeek 2024 provides a cross-disciplinary meeting venue for communication and collaboration over and beyond traditional community boundaries. Topics covered are the (re-)discovery, identification, improvement, handling, processing, manufacturing, (re-)use and recycling of materials. Thus, it aims to combine insights, theories, and methods from different fields to address complex issues emphasising the fluidity of disciplinary boundaries and encouraging the free flow of ideas and methods between different fields.

The event includes conference sessions, workshops and courses where various topics will be covered.

We’re happy to announce that SUNRISE is among the sponsors of this year’s event. We hope to see you in Limassol!
